Welcome to October 16

October 16 started business, yes you guessed it, on the 16th October 2020. Having been made redundant from a Mental Health Hospital and Care Home provider at the height of Covid-19. Mike Higginson and his wife Nicci set up the company with the original concept of providing direct support for social care providers in the U.K.

This support took the form initially of Covid Support Calls to Care Home Staff dealing with the stresses and trauma of working in the pandemic on behalf of a Local Authority. From there Mike was hired by a private hospital group to support a patient recall project. Subsequently, Mike has provided support to home care providers, care home groups and individuals, from incident reviews, major investigations, recovery from poor CQC inspections to creating and executing a business growth strategy, Mike has been in high demand since October 16’s conception whilst Nicci manages the back end business function that is a full time job in itself.

Now, in 2023, Mike and Nicci find ever increasingly they are having to say “No” to assignments, where possible Mike and Nicci have managed to successfully assist providers in finding alternative consultants, so much so that it is now time to evolve October 16 into a more rounded, diverse and dynamic organisation.

From 1st May 2023 October 16 Consulting is now directly supporting Care Providers, Hospitals and Home Care Operators across the U.K. with a brand new service helping them find the ideal Interim Healthcare Consultant to meet their needs and support their challenges. The website has now launched with the simple aim of introducing people with problems to people who can help solve them.

These are massively exciting times for Mike & Nicci as they embark on the next chapter of October 16 Consulting.
